22/09/2024 – Nairobi, Kenya

The past 24 hours will be locked in the registry of good stories.

Saturday 22:00, I randomly crossed a friend who recently got back from Kenya. “Have you gotten your ETA approved?”, to which I answer “hehh shit”. I rush back home, a bit drunk from the evening, I quickly fill in the form. The results will be processed within 72 hours, and I need it for Monday morning 6 am. I didn’t sleep much the night that followed.

It’s Sunday, I’m pessimistic and assume I would have to delay the big departure. I go dance, not in my usual happy places but to a dark techno club. I leave the dancefloor dripping sweat and intoxicated, I take my phone wanting to do the flight change so it’s done and I don’t need to think about it anymore. “Your ETA got approved”. Ha!

That means that in about 10 hours I need to wake up, lift my bike box to the airport and fly to Nairobi for 3 months cycling in East Africa. Current situation: I wanna dance dance dance.

So I danced until the sun set, had a long walk and delicious dinner, came back home, Julie played some loungy music, finished packing, took a shower and slid in bed. 22:50, still high, feeling ready, thriving. Woopi!
